The evolution of GSH in aging fibroblasts showed a sudden increase in its concentration just before cell death, whereas GPx activity was already decreasing at the beginning of passages, and that of glutathione reductase was constant and reaching a very low level at the end of the cell culture, suggesting that the GSH system was probably involved in cell degeneration associated with aging [18]
